Local!
Was still closed beginning of this week
It's closed
I don't think so, wrong season
Not a clue
Everything was available when we visited. Plenty of oysters!
Our server Chandler was extremely kind and helpful. The shrimp baskets and fried pickles were very good. I'm glad we were able to stop in for dinner.
Yes, the waiting staff is a bit sloppy, but you're seating next to the water, the oysters are incredibly fresh and the fried flounder is simply perfect. So, I loved it!
Love the Boss! This place is an icon, a pillar of the community! You haven't truely explored Apalachicola without a stop at Boss Oyster! The poboys here are always fantastic! I love their topped oysters too! Great place! Must stop!
Its closed and doesn't look like it is going top reopen.
A MUST visit!! Friendly staff and FANTASTIC food!!
Great views, dog friendly.
Best shucking oysters I've ever had
Best oysters around! Apalachicola has tons of oyster bars but Boss is by far the best. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was chill and had a great "local" feel about it. Captain Jack's oysters were the bomb!!
Ordered a half dozen oysters and a bowl of seafood gumbo. The oysters were excellent and the gumbo was very good. Unfortunately, they appeared to be understaffed or otherwise unprepared to manage the number of people in the restaurant at 12:45 pm on a Tuesday afternoon.
The oysters are always great here. Go ahead and get the combo tray.
Ambience is great! Food is delicious! Server Jen or Jeni was wonderful, but the hostess ( big set woman ) seemed to be either drunk or high on something, it took a while before she acknowledged us, when she did, she didn't know which table to seat us, until I pointed out one table outside that was vacant.
If you're looking for a real nice seafood plate you might want to drive another hour in either direction lol ... However, for its location it was not so bad. Sat on the back porch so we could look out across the water while we enjoyed a cold beer. It was a tad warm out, the food was average & expensive.. the beer wasnt much cold either. BUT it was made worth the stop just to sit on the porch to watch a grackle fly in to steal sugar packets from the outside tables! He was too funny! I suppose I'd stop in again but wouldn't drive out to Appalachia for just the stop...
Love this place. Freshest oysters and cold beer
Overrated Dump!! ..All The Negative Reviews Are Pretty Much on Target.im a Local And if You Enjoyed Your Meal GREAT...But Their Food Handling and Safety is Very VERY POOR ..If you Do Eat Oysters At That S Shack..Make Sure You Eat Them Cooked.Look up VIBRIO....I went There Once And ONLY ONCE..$ave your Green and Head Somewhere Else.. if Touirsts Only Knew!!.. .God Bless Be Safe.
Love this place. A literal monument to the Oyster. Appreciate the attentive service. Will have eaten there three times on this trip.
Love this place. Low key, good food
This place is hard to notice from the street, and seems like a small hole in the wall. But, once you enter the restaurant entrance area, it's a really cool place. There's seating indoors and outside on the deck, which is practically a foot above the river water. The oysters are the star of the menu, obviously, and they're delicious. They were a little more expensive than other places ($10 for half dozen vs 15 for a dozen) but they were the best oysters we've had in Apalachicola, so they were worth it. They had a good selection of domestic and import beer, as well as specialty cocktails. The rest of the menu was pretty standard, but I'll admit I didn't scrutinize it since I was there for the oysters. Highly recommend making this part of your Apalachicola trip.
Loved eating out by the water. Table was a bit wobbly but we didn't mind. I was afraid to try the oysters but my husband ordered some baked ones and they were wonderful. The large shrimp was so fresh. You can really tell the difference . The shrimp boats were right next to us, dropping their nets!
Most of the food was good, the wait staff was not great slow in getting us food and drinks. Took a while to get our bill and pay it.
Fresh seafood, great prices. This place is a hidden gem on the coast. The outside is a little iffy but don’t let that keep your from going in! The oysters were amazing and came right out of the water right underneath the restaurant. We had fried fish and shrimp and it was piping hot. The grits weren’t my taste but everything else was great, including the southern hospitality. Can’t wait to go back!
Awesome place, great food!
Oysters and view superb but service took ages to be seated. Short staffed I believe!
Service is not to be desired. Food is good. I get fish and chips here, amazing. Mother gets oysters here and has always said they're good as well.
Best oysters in the south and friendly people!
Our absolute go to when visiting cape San blas and port saint joe. The atmosphere here is great! The staff are always friendly and amazing. The food is always on point. Not fancy, just feel good vibes all the way through. We love the oysters, it has become our ritual!
The best oysters and seafood anywhere. Come hungry! Beautiful rustic dockside location.
Very good fish dip and decent service at the bar.
Really nice place friendly staff
I just read " life after Google"
This was our first visit to Apalachicola in many years. We chose this restaurant because we had our dog with us and they welcomed her. So glad we did! The food was great and very plentiful (scallop and flounder baskets) and the service was very good. We enjoyed the view of the docks and boats.
Yes, I know this place made Southern Living magazine, but truly I have had better. I am a local gal living on the Gulf Coast and I know seafood. Still worth a try if you are not one who gets to eat seafood often. Nice staff, great location.
We always love stopping here when we are in Apalachicola!!! Love sitting by the water and my husband loves the oysters!!!
First trip to Apalachicola. Chose River Inn for old world charm. Boss Oysters is right there on site so we decided to try them out. Staff was friendly, greeted us right away and seemed pleased we picked the AC room.Service was slow after that. But the food was good.I don't think anyone ever asked if we needed another beverage.May go again. As with all old world rustic charm some improvements are necessary. And not all are facility issues.3 stars for friendliness and good food
This was our first visit. The Oysters was great. I will return .
Best oysters I've ever eaten, everyone enjoying a beer and great sea food..Think it was $15 dozen raw...smoked oysters were amazing. Opens at 11:30. Enjoy the outdoor seating...
Oysters are always, always awesome! One of my favorite places in one of my favorite towns- Apalach 💗
Sat for 15 minutes before anyone came over. Because I called them. Took another 5 for our drinks and our own server. She was nice. We paid our drinks and went to another oyster bar
Our food was very tasty. I had fish tacos and my wife had fried shrimp. The only negative was we were in a air conditioned section but still was on the warm side.
Rustic setting, no doubts about it being a Seafood restaurant (namely oysters). Excellent portions and freshness is what I will remember about eating here. Worth a try for the competitive raw oyster person as well.
Excellent service for a large party of folks. Oysters were delicious as always!
Best oyster place I have ever been too. Great service and right on the river. I must go to place.
Very nice experience, food and service were good.
I like this place. I like eating out on the dock. The prices seemed higher, but are in line with other oyster places in Apalachicola. My experiences have been good here
Toni took great care of us. Delicious grilled fish and raw oysters. Hole in the wall, rugged and we will be back.
I am a local and picked Boss Oyster to take out of town friends out to dinner. I had always found BO to provide good food. However, at this visit my husband and I were embarrassed at the food provided. The food was definitely not food previously served.
Home of the best plate of oysters I’ve had in my life. Boss catches, cleans and prepares their own using their dedicated charter boat parked a mere feet from your table. Thrilled with this place and will be back when traveling along the coast again.
Not as good as other places. Kept hearing so much about this place we had to try it. Love that its dog friendly out on the deck. Your looking right at the boats and river. My husband said his grilled oysters were only ok. They were different sizes so the small ones were overcooked and the others ok. Their frozen drinks were not available. The shrimp and grits were very good, and the bread they served with it was fantastic! We will go back to Up theCreek raw bar next time. Being on the second floor gives you a better view and breezes.
Great food, excellent service and wonderful views. Best experience eating out in a long time.
Love the seafood at BOSS OYSTER!
😋 Delicious. Only complaint was that it was too cold to sit outside.
